Happy Ever Never (Book 1)

I received a free copy of this book. I decided to review it because I like it.

Happy Ever Never

Overall Rating: 3.5 (sXe)

Quick & Dirty summary: Willow and Piers had promised to be together forever starting with a blood bond when they were nine. But broken promises and people determined to keep them apart cause Willow to flee. After a tragedy brings Piers back into Willow’s life, secrets are revealed and people’s motives are made clear. Will the last wishes of a loved one help bring Willow and Piers back together again or have the secrets ruined their young love?

This is a story based around the fairytale of Peter Pan. It’s not a simple retelling, which I enjoy. Piers and Willow are both likeable characters. They are sympathetic and their shared past makes their love story sweet and believable. I’m looking forward to the other books in the series, especially if they are based on the secondary characters who make up the Lost Boys group.

I did have some problems with this book, though. The main problem I had was it felt very disjointed. There are parts where the writing is smooth and the dialogue is realistic. But there are other parts where I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a different story, or a story where I missed some details.

Despite that, I had a fun time reading the book. It’s sweet and it made me feel good. I do want to say that the summary on Amazon did not make sense to me after finishing the book. So, if the summary puts you off, I think you should see if the summary I wrote above is more inline with your interests.

Is it worth buying? (Kindle $2.99)
I don’t think I’d buy it, but I do think it’s worth a read through Kindle Unlimited or your local library. It’s a sweet book that will revive your belief in love.

Something else you might enjoy:
You have to read An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn. It’s the third book in one of my favorite series of all time, the Bridgertons. It’s a take on the Cinderella story and you don’t have to read the entire series to read this book.
