These novels are short, steamy erotica. They have strong storylines, but they are porn in word form, more so than any other erotica I’ve read. Some are follow porn storylines a little more closely than others, but a common theme among all of them is “breeding” the women.
I have mixed feelings about these novels, primarily because they are so hot, but I’m a little uncomfortable as to why. For me, the most disturbing of them was Owning Her Innocence, which has two additional books following these main characters. I’m not into the daddy/child play and since I’m not a psychologist, I don’t really understand it. I’m not going to disrespect it just because I don’t understand it, but it seems to grant the man in the relationship a lot of power.
Of course, none of this would really bother me if it didn’t turn me on, which is sort of the crux of this review. If you are interested in reading this kind of stuff, then it’s great. I don’t watch porn, but I think that people who do (both men and women) would love this author. However, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that it totally got to me. For whatever reason, the whole “breeding” thing works, probably because I have two kids that were planned for and purposefully made.
In the end, the bottom line is they were fun to read. They are all short reads, so they were easy to read after the kids were in bed before it was time to hit the sack myself (was that a pun?). Of the books I listed above, the ones I would recommend most are Snow and Mistletoe and Riding Red. They were a little heavier on romance and the storyline, so I enjoyed them a lot more than the others.
Is it worth buying? (varies)
Full disclosure: I didn’t actually buy any of them. I read them for free on Kindle Unlimited and am very happy about that. I think they are fun books to read, but I’m not sure I’d actually pay for them. It’s kind of like porn. Why pay for porn when you can get it for free? The answer you give will also answer the question of whether these stories are worth buying.
Something else you might enjoy:
I love the Tales of the Shareem series by Jennifer Ashley/Allyson James. They are super sexy, but with a futuristic twist. Very creative in terms of storyline, with the added benefit of being heavy on the sex.
